Anh Long, MD
Dr. Long’s experience as a child in war-torn Vietnam and seeing first hand the suffering it caused inspired her to become a physician. Wanting to give back to society and to help people coping with catastrophe led her to a specialty in physical and rehabilitation medicine. For Dr. Long, being able to spend time with her patients and getting to know their families are two of the rewards of her profession. From this, she is able to see each individual as a “whole person” in the context of family and community. Her patients appreciate her kind, caring, calm approach and the encouragement she offers to help them overcome the obstacles they face.

 
A physician for sixteen years, Dr. Long graduated from the University of California Davis Medical School and completed her internship and residency at the University of California Irvine where she had volunteered as an interpreter years earlier. She speaks English and Vietnamese.

Married and the mother of two young children, she enjoys doing “mommy” activities in her spare time and going to film festivals with her filmmaker husband.

Sherry Sonka-Maarek, MD 
Dr. Sonka-Maarek is board certified in Rehabilitation Medicine and has a specialization in the field of spinal cord injuries. She completed her undergraduate education at the University of Southern California, and also obtained her medical degree from USC.

She served both her internship and residency at the University of California, Irvine, and completed a fellowship in spinal cord injury medicine at Rancho Los Amigos Medical Center in affiliation with USC. Dr. Sonka-Maarek was an Assistant Clinical Professor with the UCLA Department of Medicine and received its Faculty Recognition Award in 1996.

 
She has a special interest in spasticity management and electrodiagnosis.
