Pulmonary rehabilitation is a program for persons with chronic lung diseases such as
emphysema, chronic bronchitis, asthma, bronchiectasis or interstitial. The Pulmonary
Rehabilitation Program provides medical management, education, emotional support,
exercise, breathing retraining and nutritional counseling. Our goal is to improve
control and alleviate the symptoms while maintaining a more active, independent,
healthy lifestyle.

Pulmonary Rehabilitation Self Care Training
Patients who participate in Pulmonary Rehabilitation decrease hospitalizations and
Emergency Room visits, feel more in control of symptoms, experience less shortness
of breath, feel better emotionally and have more stamina and strength (average
exercise tolerance increase at LCM SP 150%).
Four to five weeks of instruction, three classes per week. Each class is equal to
one hour of classroom training andone hour of exercise.
Classroom instruction: medications / inhaler technique, effective breathing techniques,
clearing secretions, decreasing shortness of breath & respiratory panic, and much
more. MD referral necessary.
Better Breathers Club

Third Wednesday of the month, 2:30 to 4:30 p.m.
Cost: Free
This group meets year-round for camaraderie and education. A speaker of general
interest, often on pulmonary topics, addresses the group and encourages questions.
The meetings are free to the community. Friends and family are welcome. No
reservations are necessary.

Tuesday and Thursday mornings, 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon
Cost: $37.00 for 10 sessions
This exercise program is open only to people with lung problems, so there is no
competition or feelings of being the sick one. Our fitness program is
supervised at all times by a registered nurse. Our upbeat group exercises using
stationary bikes, light weights, and treadmills to decrease the boredom of exercise!
Classes offered throughout the year.
