Length of Stay: Many factors influence length of stay in the program, including types of problems being treated and complicating factors. On average, the length of stay for any given patient was 17.0 days in 2004. The length of stay efficiency is 2.36 for 2004. However, there is a significant range in length of stay, with many patients staying longer, and some patients staying a shorter period of time.

Types of Patients Seen: Patients admitted to the program require comprehensive, intensive inpatient rehabilitation. They must have serious needs based on orthopedic, neurological or other medical conditions of recent onset or decreased ability to participate in activities of daily living, mobility, cognition or communication.

Exclusions: We do not treat children, complete quadriplegic, comatose or ventilator-dependent patients. We will be happy to assist patients or families of patients in these categories in identifying alternative resources and programs.

Services Provided: The team consists of professionals from Rehabilitation Medicine, Rehabilitation Nursing, Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech and Language Pathology, Activities Therapy, Social Services, Psychology, Orthotics and Prosthetics (by arrangement).

Therapy Intensity: Patients participate in at least 3 hours of therapy per day, Monday through Friday. Typically, there is an additional 1.5 hours of treatment on Saturdays.

Discharge Destinations: The percentage of our patients are discharged back to home or an equivalent destination usually with Home Health or Outpatient follow up. If you are discharged to home, the Team may recommend that you have access to a caregiver who will be available to ensure your safety.
